Volvo Penta's

electronic vessel control

Volvo Penta  Electronic Vessel Control (EVC) is a CAN-bus based network that integrates the engine, transmission and controls with instruments and displays information as well as smart functions. In other words, with EVC, it's easy to install smart accessories that make boating simpler and more environmentally friendly. The long list of possibilities include plug-in installation of instruments, active monitoring and troubleshooting, engine data sent to the chart plotter and the ability to upgrade the boat’s functions at a later date.

Here's a good example: It takes a mere  five minutes to install trip computer functions in a boat equipped with Volvo Penta EVC. To do it, the dealer connects a special tool and downloads the appropriate software. Updating the engine’s control system or other functions  is just as simple. the automatic Powertrim assistant can easily be installed in the EVC system.
